Happy Valentine’s Day to All!
Today I am sharing the love in the form of these delicious little cheesy heart crackers. Perfect for sugar free snack time or even just with a bowl of soup. My three year old and I had fun making these together whilst my babe had his morning nap. Zippidy zap!
Makes 15 hearts
1 heaped tbsp softened unsalted butter
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
1/2 cup grated STRONG cheddar
1 cup wholewheat flour
1/2 tsp mustard powder
3 tbsp cold water
Sprinkle of paprika
You can use a food processor if you like, but where is the bonding time in that? So, in a large bowl combine the butter and cheeses completely using a fork. Then, tip in the flour and mustard powder and mix together using your hands, adding a spoonful of water at a time until you have a wettish dough consistency. Wrap the dough in cling film and pop in the fridge for an hour or so.
Preheat the over to 190c. Roll out the dough onto a floured surface to about a 3/4cm thickness and then cut into your desired shapes. We chose hearts for obvious reasons! Sprinkle a little paprika over each one.
Bake in the oven for 15 mins on a baking tray and then move the crackers to a wire rack to cool and crispen up.
Next time we will try adding some chopped fresh herbs and perhaps some sundries tomato paste to experiment with flavours and colours.
Love and kisses to all this V-Day x
